Renovation of an open fireplace or fireplace

Log firing in living spaces reached its peak in the 1970s and was standard in every detached house and many apartments. While mainly open fireplaces were built back then, this no longer meets today's requirements. In an open fireplace, a large proportion of the heat from the fire escapes unused via the flue gas system.

What renovation options are available for an open fireplace?

The matching cassette is installed in the existing open fireplace and connected to the flue gas system. Only a few structural measures are required here.

Inserts for wood combustion are available in a wide variety of dimensions and shapes. There are no limits to your creativity. There are models as front versions, 2-sided, 3-sided, tunnels and room dividers. The costs for a conversion depend on the height of the structural measures.

Replacement with a wood combustion stove

Have you always dreamed of having a stove? The open fireplace can be completely dismantled and a new stove installed on the flue system. Such a conversion will most likely also involve adjustments to the floor and walls directly next to the fireplace. This depends on your structural living situation.

Various models and dimensions of stoves and gas fireplace inserts offer you all the architectural possibilities to find the right gas fireplace for your home. When converting to a gas firing, the existing open fireplace is dismantled and the gas stove or gas fireplace insert is installed. The cost of the conversion varies depending on the living conditions.

Replacement with an electric fire

 

Electric fireplaces are a good alternative to classic wood fires and can be installed individually in any room. There are no limits to your creativity: whether as a free-standing decoration or built into furniture and walls - almost anything is possible with an electric fire.
