5 tips for a successful start to the stove season

When it gets cold outside again in autumn, the need for a cosy wood fire from the fireplace increases. To ensure a perfect and safe start to the new heating season, it is advisable to have your stove checked before firing it up for the first time. If you take the following 5 tips to heart, you are guaranteed a successful start to the season:

  • Check the moving parts of your stove, such as the air slide, throttle valve and door lock. Do all parts move smoothly? Lubricate the door catch and hinges if necessary (even better: have them lubricated by a dealer).
  • Have your fireplace system checked by a specialist.
  • Check the condition of the firebox door seals on your stove. Seals are wearing parts and must be replaced occasionally (only use original firebox door seals from a dealer).
  • Free your stove from fusible decorative objects such as candles, plastic statues, photo frames and similar items.
  • Have enough well-stored and dry firewood ready. Ideally, you should store it at room temperature in your living room for two to three days before use so that it can dry out again. Also check your stock of firelighters and small wood for kindling.
