The most important questions

Can I connect my stove to an old chimney system?

Yes, provided the dimensions of the wood stove and the flue system are compatible. It is essential that the stove and flue function technically as a single unit.

The flue is the heart of the wood stove. Therefore, the smoke outlet and the flue system should be as well-matched as possible. Ideally, the flue system should have the same diameter as the stove’s smoke outlet.

Most Attika wood stoves have a smoke outlet with a diameter of 150 mm.

In addition, the flue system should ideally be at least 4 metres long, have as few changes of direction as possible, and horizontal sections should be kept as short as possible.

What does outdoor air mean in the context of a wood stove?

Outside air is fresh air that is supplied directly to a wood stove from outside. It serves as combustion air and is not drawn from the room.

This is particularly relevant in modern, well-insulated homes, where there may be insufficient air in the room to ensure clean combustion. At Attika, this external air supply is known as the AIR System. The AIR System can be connected to almost all Attika wood stoves.

Please always observe the country-specific regulations.

Which air control system is best for my wood stove – manual, CleverAIR™ or ElectronicAIR™?

Attika wood stoves offer three types of air control, depending on the model: manual, CleverAIR™ or ElectronicAIR™. The most suitable option depends on the wood stove, the chimney, the existing flue system and the level of ease of use you require.

With manual air control, you regulate the air supply yourself. This option may be suitable depending on the chimney and draught conditions, for example if the wood stove is connected to a large-diameter flue tube and the air supply needs to remain open for longer.

CleverAIR™ automatically regulates the air supply during combustion – without the need for electricity. You simply load dry wood and light the fire. CleverAIR™ automatically supplies the fire with the correct amount of primary, secondary and tertiary air during each firing phase. This reduces the risk of operating errors, promotes clean combustion, low emission levels and efficient use of the firewood.

ElectronicAIR™ is Attika’s electronic burn-off control system. It measures the combustion temperature and automatically regulates the air supply via an electronic control unit. This promotes controlled combustion and consistently low emission levels of fine dust and CO.

An Attika dealer can advise you on which air control system is best suited to your wood stove, your flue system and your requirements.
