Stylish fire experiences in "The Chedi" in Andermatt

Fire is one of the central design themes in the furnishing concept of the world-famous architect Jean Michel Gathy in the newly built "The Chedi Hotel" in the Swiss Alp Resort in Andermatt planned by the Egyptian investor Samih Sawiris. As soon as they enter the lobby, guests are greeted by the flickering flames of the stove. Several equally impressive fireplaces are located in "The Restaurant", and there are more blazing fires oozing with style in the hotel bar "The Bar and Living Room", in the exclusive spa and pool complex, and in many of the hotel rooms. In total there are over 200 gas-operated systems both indoors and outdoors, giving the building at the heart of the Alps a chic, cosy warmth.

The high level of customisation for each of the gas fireplaces and the brand-new requirements on a project of this size (iPad-controlled operation, for instance) represented a major challenge. This is why our engineers began by preparing feasibility studies and models for numerous systems before identifying individual technical solutions at every level. The result was a unique body of work which commands enormous respect both at home and abroad.
